2. Delete current section This deletes the current section. I would note that there is an option to redefine the section boundaries which can negate the need to delete and re-insert a section.

Cut/Fill

5. Cut/Fill  This is cut/fill ratio in percent. When dirt is dug up it expands when placed back into any holes that need to be filled. 120 is a common value to use but depends upon the type of soil present.

6. Borrow  Set a value here if you are importing or exporting dirt to this section

Cross grade

7. Cross grade  This sets the direction of the X axis for this section.

Auto grade.

8. Auto grade.  This creates a solution that guarantee's that water flows to a edge of the section. This solution is for dry-land applications. There is an optional smoothing function.

Constrained Grades

9. Constrained Grades This allows you to set the minimum and maximum grades in both Main grade and Cross grade. ie Constrain the grades to lie between user limits. You can optionally smooth the output.

Plane option

10. Plane option  If this option is ticked the current section will be designed as a best fit plane. Plane design is normally done using Least Squares. We also have a Linear Programming solution.

11. minX check  Tick this box if you wish to set minimum grade in X direction. (Cross-grade)

12. MinX grade  If we are defining a plane then set min and max grade and set them to the same value.

23. M**3/Hect  How many meters cubed of material is moved per hectare. Imperial value is displayed in yards cubed per acre.

Haul Index

24. Haul Index  The Haul index is the distance between the centroid of the cuts and the centroid of the fills. It gives an indication of how far dirt needs to be moved. If the section has cuts and fills equally distributed then distance approach's zero. If all the cut's are at one end of the job and all the fill's are at the other end then haul index is relatively large.

25. Apply button This called automatically before hitting grading button. Hitting this button saves current parameters in the current section.

Min X grade in section

27. Min X grade in section  This is the minimum grade in X direction from natural surface. Sometimes these values appear extreme. However is points are close together the grade can be large but could be over a very small area. ie if two points are 10mm apart but only 1mm difference in height then grade is 10 percent.
