Ezigrade (version 2)

Haulage Lines  BETA

Please note this section is still in BETA development. If you have any suggestions or bug fix's then please let us know.

The Haulage arrows give a visual representation of the best way to move dirt around within the job. At present it will not account for import/export of dirt from the field. The arrows are graded from most dirt to least dirt. The idea is to give feedback on how best to move dirt around to minimise the distance dirt needs to be moved.

Procedure

First we need to have created a land-forming design. Now look towards the bottom left of the Ezigrade screen and you will see the grader icon. Click on this:

Looking in the pne view we have the following:

Run:  Start the algorithm to calculate optimal haulage lines.
Cancel:  Stop algorithm if things are taking too long.
Grid Num: 20 to 40 is a goon number. If you make it too big it will take longer.
Cut: Ignore at present
Colors: A color rainbow from least to most earth movement. Click on the color to change if necessary.

Create the Haulage Plan

Simply click Run. The algorithm will run through up to 30 times and create a fairly optimal solution. The algorithm is based on a grid so can never be truly optimal as the grid itself is already an approximation. However it should be a good guide. If anyone thinks it is sub-optimal then please send your data and an explanation of what can be improved.

Once the algorithm has finished, simply click into the plan view and the haulage arrows are shown:

In this job we are moving data from the blue area's to the red areas. If you inspect the arrows you can see that the larger dirt movements are represented by larger arrows and the colors are graded from most to least.

Exporting the Data:

We are still addressing this so let us know if you want the haulage arrows in a particular format. The PDF grading report is simply a screen shot so this is already supported.

Export to Google Earth:

We have a Google Earth export as it should be handy to take your Android Tablet out in the field to check things before bringing in the heavy machinay. Once the haulage arrows are displayed you can click on Export -> Google Earth and you have the following dialog:

Click on the Haulage Lines tick box and you can get something like this. We changed the smaller triangles from green to blue as the background is predominately green.
